Arvada LIfe – Merchants of Historic Olde Town – the Baker (Rheinlander German Bakery)

Historic Olde Town Arvada is a great place to shop – you can find the butcher, the baker, and the candlestick maker – along with a whole lot more. To find the Rheinlander German Bakery, just avail yourself of a free Olde Town parking space in the 5700 block of Olde Wadsworth, and follow your nose.  This is a second-generation Dimmer family business, begun in 1963 by Ed & Maro Dimmer. When I visited yesterday, I learned that they’ve been proud to offer suger free confections for the last 7 to 8 years, and gluten free for the last 4 to 5 years. There’s a heart-felt story behind the reason why they offer these products, it’s not all about marketing. Read Maro’s story here. This is an excerpt: “Today when I tell people I cannot have sugar or flour, they immediately assume that I am diabetic. However, the disease I am faced with is cancer.” The sugar-free, gluten-free part of the business is called Sweet Deliverance. But for those of us who still indulge in the sweet treats of sugar and flour, it’s a dizzying experience to spend a few minutes in Rheinlander German Bakery’s clean, friendly shop. My personal favorite is their German chocolate cake. So rich and moist, it’s perfecton on a fork.
